The Institute of Technology and its Didactics at Europa-Universität Flensburg seeks to fill the following position for the spring semester 2025 or the fall semester 2025:
We are seeking an individual who can represent the entire field of general technology education in both research and teaching, with a focus on the science of technology.
The successful candidate will assume the leadership of the Institute for Technology and its Didactics.
The candidate must have a research profile that is relevant to the field of technology education, with a focus on general education. This profile must be substantiated through a record of outstanding and internationally visible publications. Experience in securing third-party funding is required. Successful networking within the national and international research communities would be considered a plus.
Responsibilities of the professorship include organizing and conducting teaching activities, as well as designing, implementing, and developing courses for the technology subject components of the B.A. program in Educational Sciences, the M.Ed. program in Primary School Teaching including the M.Ed. in Special Education (focus: primary education), and the M.Ed. for Comprehensive School Teaching including the M.Ed. in Special Education (focus: secondary education). The professorship will also contribute to teaching within the General Studies subject component of the Educational Sciences B.A. program.
Candidates should have teaching experience and proven skills in university teaching, particularly in the field of technology education and in the subject areas of materials, energy, and/or data processing systems in technology.
A connection between the candidate’s research activities and Europa-Universität Flensburg’s core research areas is desired. Europa-Universität Flensburg offers attractive opportunities for research funding and support, especially in its flagship research centers (ICES/Interdisciplinary Center for European Studies, ZeBUSS/Center for Research on Education, Teaching, Schooling and Socialization, and CREST/Center for Research on Sustainability and Transformation). The selected candidate is expected to engage with one of these flagship research centers. Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching would be welcome.
Willingness to participate in the university's self-governing bodies is also expected.
The university aims to strengthen internationalization in research and teaching and therefore welcomes applications from abroad.
Recruitment requirements include a university degree (general education degree in technology or the field of work studies, or a comparable university degree), an outstanding (at least magna cum laude) and thematically relevant doctorate in general education technology didactics or in work science with a focus on technology, and additional academic achievements, as shown through a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship, or comparable academic achievements. If the doctorate was earned at a foreign university, the evaluations should be submitted.
Applicants must prove that they have three years of practical school experience, or relevant teaching experience in the field of general technology education, or empirical research experience in general education technology didactics in areas relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
