Europa-Universität Flensburg seeks to fill the following full-time office by December 1, 2024:

Together with the other members of the Executive University Board team, you assume overall responsibility for leading the university and work closely with its committees and governing bodies. As the full-time President, you represent the university externally and are directly responsible for managing its ongoing affairs. In these capacities, you steer its further development in a multitude of ways, focusing on societal challenges in teaching and research such as those concerning the future of education, European studies, digitalization, and knowledge transfer. You oversee current consolidation processes and actively work to promote outstanding individual and collaborative research, as well as to position the university within the national and international academic arenas in a manner that advances its specific research and teaching goals. Your tasks and powers are regulated in the Gesetz über die Hochschulen und das Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein (HSG) [Act on Higher Education and the University Medical Center Schleswig Holstein].
Legal requirements for the position:
In accordance with Section 23 Paragraph 5 of the HSG, the President is elected by the Senate based on the nomination proposal of a search committee and is appointed by the Ministry for a six-year term. The President will be appointed to a civil servant position of limited tenure, or to a fixed-term employment position under private law. The salary corresponds to a W3 base salary, plus office-related performance bonuses of up to 51% of the base salary.
The Presidential election is expected to be conducted by the University Senate in Spring Semester 2024 in a meeting open to the public.
